Self sabotage

It can be difficult to accept that we can get in our own way.

We think of ourselves as in control constantly. The world can seem too fast to consider that our subconscious has motives deeper than we sometimes recognise.

When things go wrong, as they do.

As they will.

The temptation to blame seems more appealing than the instinct to resolve.

The comfort of regret urges you to stay inactive.

The ease of apologising outweighs saying or doing what you really mean.

The fog of hesitation feels like a good place to hide from progress.

Being inactive today can always be tomorrows problem.

These are the behaviours of a self-saboteur.

He is your enemy.

He looks like you, walks like you and talks like you.

Do not approach him.

Ask yourself.

It takes considerable thought and courage to identify our true self. For some people, it can take a whole lifetime.

Consider the following before it’s too late:

Does my behaviour align with my aims and goals?

Do I feel I deserve the successes in my life?

Am I taking the correct actions to match my goals and values?

Am I uncomfortable at the thought of more responsibility?

Can I see any achievements in the past year?

Do I care about how I am perceived by strangers?

Are my relationships healthy and mutually beneficial?

Take the time to sit with these answers. Push yourself to expand on them as much as you can.

Our culture is more polarised than ever. It is so easy to make enemies of strangers and those who don’t align completely with our views.

Ensure your worst enemy is not yourself.
